Canoes participating in Alcatraz Canoe Journey launched and landed at Aquatic Park in San Francisco, circling or approaching Alcatraz Island. Ruth Orta, an elder of Him’re-n Ohlone, Bay Miwok and Plains Miwok descent and an esteemed community member, offered each canoe a blessing upon departure and a formal welcoming upon return to Ramaytush Ohlone territory.
